IP Address Policies
IP Policy
Customers, in general, may request any number of IP addresses. Customers must provide justification that explains how the IP addresses will be used if more then the standard allotment is requested.
If the customer has requested additional blocks of IPs from Stickdog, the customer must use 60% of what they request on the day of installation, with a two-week grace period to cover equipment setup and/or problems.
For example, if a customer requests 16 IP addresses, at least 9 of them must be able to be actively occupied two weeks after installation. For current customers requesting a new larger IP block, at least 80% of their current alotted addresses must be in use before Stickdog will issue any more.
In order for Stickdog to assign IP addresses, an IP justification plan is required. This plan should include one of the following:
A list of hostnames. If the hosts are not pingable at the time of installation, an estimated time should be given as to when then will be, or:
A network plan showing machines, subnets if applicable, expected growth in the future, etc.
Either of these justification plans are required by Stickdog and RFC-2050 for allocation of IPs.
Based on the information provided, customers will be assigned space based on immediate utilization plus three month and six month projected utilization. Customers must exhibit a high confidence level in their three month and six month utilization rate that they have documented.
If you have any questions about the IP assignment policy or process, please email us.
IP Address Changes:
Once your IPs have been issued to you, you will be charged monthly for the addresses based on a rate of $1 for each IP beyond the standard 8. For example, if you are issued a block of 32 IPs, an additional charge of $24 will occur monthly. Stickdog T1 customers will be issued a block of 16 at no additional charge. The charge will be included with your monthly bill for service.
Upgrade of IP Addresses
If you are requesting a upgrade in the amount of IP addresses you currently have you must be aware of the following:
Stickdog will replace your block of IP Addresses with a brand new block. Your formerly issued IP addresses will no longer function.
Stickdog will email you a document outlining your new block of IP addresses.
Your newly allocated IP addresses will be built out within 72 hours after we have confirmed/authorized the addition.
If you have special scheduling requirements, please let us know at the time of ordering so an appointment can be set for the changes. Include with your request what time and date you would like the transition to take place.
Please keep in mind that you may experience downtime on your network when this change occurs and it may be necessary to reconfigure your computers attached to your Internet connection.
