Your phone bill contains local recurring charges and usage charges depending on the type of calls you make and depending on the calling plan and carrier selections on your line.
|
Local Calling Area: Usage charges depend on which calling plan you choose. Options include: 1. No calling plan: in this case, each local call is billed by call or per minute (your choice). 2. Economy with allowance: Call allowance included with plan, calls in excess of allowance are billed by call. 3. Unlimited local: All calls to your “free local calling area” are free. |
IntraLATA Calling Area: These are calls made to numbers in the same LATA (Local Access Transport Area) as your number. These calls are long distance. How can you tell? You must first dial a “1” before calling them. These calls are also referred to as “regional long distance” or “regional toll calls”. These calls can be carried by the long distance carrier of your choice. |
Extended Calling Area: These calls are not free, however, you do not have to dial “1” before dialing. The rates on these calls depend upon distance from your central office as structured by the monopoly, using descriptions such as “Band 3”, “Band 4”, “Community Choice”. Your bill does not include the details of the calls made to extended local calling areas. The bill only contains a summary of the calls made. See the front of your White Pages for your extended calling area. |
 |
InterLATA Calling Area: These calls are traditional long distance and can be carried by the long distance carrier of your choice. |
It is not necessary to use the same carrier for both IntraLATA and InterLATA long distance. If you contact us to change one of these carriers, please be sure to specify which you want to change or confirm that you want to change both. There is a $5 charge for changing either code, and $10 to change both.
